Much too much telling instead of showing. There were bits of kink but nothing that screamed BDSM. There were also some typos that took me out of the action. I found Alexis to be an odd mixture of strong and timid - almost as if the author was using her timidity for submissiveness.
She drove me nuts at some points. I d This book was exhausting! I did understand her traumatic history and how it affected her now, but I still found myself wanting to jump in my Kindle and shake her up a bit. And Patrick - initially I liked him but his over the top mess up and then his rather ham-fisted manner in trying to fix it made me groan in frustration. The secondary characters were good particularly, Patrick's family.
Boy his sister was a hoot but we don't get enough of her. There is a reason that this book was a runaway best-seller and a global phenomenon.
Love and Romance
It is incredibly gripping, guaranteed to keep you up late, and even has a long distance relationship in it—of sorts, anyway. It will keep you guessing until the end. The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Society Mary Ann Shaffer and Annie Barrows Another award-winner, this best-selling novel is set in and comprised of a series of letters between writer Juliet Ashton and the inhabitants of the island of Guernsey about their experiences during the German occupation. It is a long distance love tale about the importance of finding connection in the most surprising ways.
I was particularly impressed that a story set during this era managed to pull off being funny, charming, and romantic.

This was a tough read. Must I go on? The storytelling here, unfortunately, falls flat. Heck, we barely got a spark! Anyway, the story is really slow. It takes the author half of the book to get these two to finally meet and start interacting.
